The Fish Processing, Quality Assurance and Marketing Programmes are designed to produce personnel to serve the post‐harvest aspect of the fisheries industry. It includes, among others, those to be engaged in Fish handling, processing, marketing and Quality Assurance. Like in the case of all other FETA courses, training programmes under this category are market‐driven designed to meet the technological, quality and safety requirements of the changing national, regional and global fish trade. The programmes cover both the small‐scale and industrial scale post‐harvest technologies applied in the fishing industry the world‐over with a focus on Value‐addition.

The Diploma qualification is intended for a person who will perform work in fish handling, processing, and marketing as well as ensuring safety and quality of fish and fish products. The competence provided involves application of skills and knowledge in a range of activities some of which are non‐routine and be able to assume operational responsibilities. On the other hand, the Basic Technician certificate in Fish Processing, Marketing and Quality Assurance is intended for a person who will process, market and ensure safety and quality of fish and fish
products. The holder of the qualification will be able to apply skills and knowledge at routine level.
